What this site is really about

Shuichi Shindou is determined to take his band Bad Luck to the top of the Japanese pop charts. With his drive, talent, and satiny singing voice, he just might stand a chance. But Fate throws a wrench into his well-oiled machine in the form of a handsome stranger named Yuki, a romance writer with an attitude. Yuki is Shuichi's biggest critic, but as the two young artists gravitate towards each other, friendship, and perhaps something more, is sure to blossom.

Mitsuo Shiozu is a lonely high school student who happens to be psychic. Spirits 'use' his body and mind to communicate with the dead and to help the living. These ghostly apparitions use Mitsuo in order to put right things that were left undone in life, or to tie up ends that were left loose before they left the land of the living.

In the process, Mitsuo often finds that these 'visitations' change his own life in ways he could not predict.

Sanami Matoh's FAKE, a shounen-ai favorite, is the unlikely love story between two NYC cops - who both happen to be guys...

FAKE began appearing in tankoubon (graphic novel) form in Japan from Biblos in 1994 and concluded its 7-volume run in 2000.

A father enrolls his daughter in a prestigious prep school ... as a boy! Kyo Aizawa finds herself masquerading as a boy at Seisyu Academy - which is famous for its boys' basketball program - so she can fulfill her father's dream of becoming an NBA basketball star.

Girl Got Game - published originally in Japan as Power!! - is a comedy/action manga, full of misunderstandings and gender-bending crossdressing!

Yuichi Kumakura's seminal manga series is a visual fantasy classic in the tradition of Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the films of Miyazaki Hayao.

Kare Kano - originally published in Japan as Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou - is a modern manga masterpiece. The story began appearing in Feburary of 1996 in Hakusensha's monthly LaLa magazine and was collected thereafter in tankoubon (graphic novel) form in the Hana to Yume Comics line. As of this writing (August 2002), there are 13 volumes in print in Japan, and Kare Kano continues to be one of the top-selling manga series in that country.

Hideaki Anno and GAINAX (the creators of Neon Genesis Evangelion) produced an animated version of Kare Kano which comprised 26 TV episodes and is now being released in the U.S. as His and Her Circumstances.

Fruits Basket, the manga, is the basis for the smash-hit runaway anime show of the same name. It is most eagerly-awaited manga series - as voted on by thousands of fans visiting the TOKYOPOP website - in many, many years.

Hideki's just like every other guy in the 22nd century. He just wants a good job, a good car, and a sexy robot girlfriend to call his own. Until he lands a job, he'll never be able to afford his own 'Persocom' companion. Hideki's luck changes when he discovers Chi - an adorable but seemingly stupid Persocom - tied up in a pile of trash. His first robot companion turns out to be a lot more responsibility than he expected, and she gets him into quite a few embarrassing situations. It's 'boy-meets-girl' for the cyber age.
